I have a cousin in her mid-30s, she's from out of the country. She married a rich guy and they have 8 maids, etc.
So it is obvious their 2 kids are raised by their maids. They've been a complete disaster since they got here and I'm really losing my patience (normally I am very laid back).
What she did today is unacceptable. Her son is 7 years old and has a 101F fever. He's doing okay and he's still being an obnoxious annoying kid even for someone who is sick... he's been farting on me, telling me things like "Hey butler, go get me water" etc. won't leave me alone, bothers the dog...
My cousin took her daughter to Manhattan and left the sick kid at home with me. Fuck you.

They began to smell as soon as they walked in.

Just give him a really harsh No after every one of his "demands". Be persistent, soon you will find out when the kid really needs something and make him work for it.

Of course I've been doing that. He's starting to listen to me so it is getting better... very obvious no one disciplines him though. Quite sad, really.

Oh, geez. I feel for you. What sort of adult will such a kid be?

No Matter How They Are Related To You, House Guests Are Always A Mistake. I get around the obligation by living in a space just large enough for my needs so there is no room for anyone else. It also helps to live far enough form anything interesting that the travel becomes a hassle.
On a related note, if your cousin's husband is so rich, why are they staying with you?

One that just inherits his father's money. The cycle never stops.

Maybe... depends on the parents. Mine are rich, but, when they pass away everything is going to world vision.

She's just visiting the US...
except she somehow left her husband at home for a whole MONTH. She leaves Sunday though, yay!
If I am him, I'd be quite pissed. How do you leave your husband home without kids ...

I admire rich parents that raise their kids properly. You can't avoid all spoils, but some people can raise the kids very well to be better.
I was raised in a very rich community, many friends of mine had new cars and the latest toys when kids, but were still very humble. While some others were douchebags, drop outs and playboys (and mostly ricers).

She's got the money. Send her to a hotel where she can get room service. I'm not his butler. That's no way for a child to treat an adult, period. Good for her, but she's a guest in your house they will learn respect or get out. It might make a significant impact on the future of those children and turning them into something other than a kardashian.

I wouldn't take that kind of crap. My family is one where there is tons of support but you will get called out if you are being an ass (comes with territory of being greek and puerto rican). I am fortunate to have a very priviliged life but I was raised in very humble beginnings. Spoiled kids need to be set straight quick otherwise it just becomes habit. I fear it is too late for those two if they are being raised by maids... If that was me I would have some serious words with your cousin.

It's summer... And it's a good time to prune your family tree. You don't deserve to have people like them in your life. I can pretty much relate... But felt much better after telling my cousins to get the fuck off my family tree.

Well I live in my parents' house. So that's out of the question. The best I can do is kick him out of my room.

Same here. Except if I tell her anything, she's nearly twice my age, she'll run to my father and tell him everything and I'll get in trouble for saying the truth.
Last time she came here I did exactly that and it really wasn't worth the ramifications I got.

Well then your father should say something. You have to be a really shitty parent to drop off your sick kid with family while you go to the city. I thought you two would be closer in age. If its not your house you can't really do much... and if she is the type of person I am thinking of she will just brush you off. I think you should talk to your parents instead then if they are condoning this type of behavior. If my parents did that, they would lose quite a bit of respect from me.

My mom is on my side on this one but my dad doesn't have to do shit cause it is his actual niece and he couldn't even take one day off of work to spend time with them. She told him this stupid Manhattan plan in the first place and he thought it was a good idea. The other night I got real pissed at him and I told him "I'm sick of this family; no one considers anyone else, ever." He understood what I meant but clearly he didn't care.

Well then this stuff runs deep. I honestly don't know what to tell you other than you are kind of shit out of luck... I can't give any reak advice because I have no idea what your family is like. It seems like your dad needs a kick in the rear though. I remember stories that when my dad stepped out of line he would get the belt. There was also the time my grandma actually smashed a plate on his head...can't really do that stuff anymore but it sure as hell kept me on the straight and narrow. Common sense isn't so common anymore and good hands on parenting is also a rarity now. I fear one day everything will go sideways because of gross incompetence.

He's a great dad, don't get me wrong, but he just expects me to cater to his guests cause we're related.
